Fabrizio Romano has claimed Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Adama Traore’s future in Barcelona is still in doubt ahead of the summer.

Having signed for the Spanish giants in January, it is still unknown where his long-term future will lie with Barca holding the option to make the move permanent.

Do you want Traore back?

No

However, Romano does not believe it will be a formality if Xavi does want to keep Traore at the Nou Camp with the Spanish side expected to want to negotiate on the price for the 26-year-old.

Reports suggest the clause in his loan deal with Barcelona includes a figure of £29m to make the move permanent in the summer.

And speaking on the latest Gazzetta dello Five video on YouTube, Romano provided an update on Barcelona’s plans for the winger ahead of the summer window:

(18:00) “But from what I’m told Barcelona want to negotiate with Wolves. So they are not planning to pay the buy option directly, but they want to negotiate as they have Trincao in the discussions.

“Another player is Riqui Puig the midfielder of Barcelona that is not finding a lot of game time and he wants to consider some opportunities. And so he could be discussed in this deal. So for Adama, Barca are happy with Adama, but they want to negotiate.”

TIF Thoughts on Traore’s future…

Traore made a really exciting start to his return to Spain having provided two assists in his first two league games which was a stark contrast to his Premier League form (via Transfermarkt).

And he has also been able to provide two assists in the three Europa League games he has played in since arriving back at his boyhood club.

However, with no goal involvement in La Liga since early February, it could be a big couple of months ahead for the Wolves man if he wants to play his football at the Nou Camp next season.
