ExWHUemployee has claimed West Ham United could have a big boost ahead of their Europa League game this week.

After drawing the first-leg 1-1 in east London, the Hammers have plenty to do if they are to beat Lyon and make it into the semi-finals of the competition.

Sadly, they may also be set to lose one of their key players for the match, as Kurt Zouma picked up an ankle injury in the club’s recent loss against Brentford and remains doubtful.

However, in much better news for the Irons, it looks as though Lyon could well come into the game with some of their own injury concerns following their last league game over the weekend.

Indeed, while talking on The West Ham Way podcast Ex said as many as three of their players picked up injuries in the last outing.

He claimed: “Apparently Lyon did alternate six players, but they picked their stronger ones to be the ones that weren’t alternated.

“And within that team, the keeper’s got injured, and it looks like two others have got injured. But I guess we’ll know nearer the time for them as well.”

Indeed, it now seems as though those three injured players are likely to be Anthony Lopes, Tanguy Ndombele and Houssem Aouar – who all had to be substituted off in the club’s 1-1 draw away at Strasbourg.

Considering all three players started the first leg – with Ndombele netting the equaliser – it’s easy to see why this is bad news for the Ligue 1 outfit and a potentially big boost for the Hammers.

Add to that, the fact that right-back Vladimir Coufal returned to action on the weekend following his own injury struggles of late, and things are beginning to look positive for West Ham.

Even so, there’s still plenty to do if they are to win this hugely important tie.
