Alasdair Gold believes Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon could return to Tottenham Hotspur training this week following their injury issues.

The Spurs correspondent was speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss the latest at Hotspur Way ahead of a big game this weekend against Aston Villa.

Are you concerned by Skipp's injury?

Tottenham have been hit by injuries to the two youngsters in recent months, with the injury to Skipp keeping the midfielder out of action since the end of January.

And with hopes he could return soon, it is now believed Skipp will miss the game against Steven Gerrard’s side at the weekend having suffered a slight setback.

Despite the reported setback, Gold did not expect either player to return for the game at Villa Park, with the match against Brighton & Hove Albion noted as a potential target.

However, it is apparent Conte is hopeful of having the pair return to action soon, with Sessegnon earning a regular spot in the Italian’s XI before picking up his hamstring issue.

Gold said: “Sessegnon and Skipp, Conte was hoping they’d be back in training this week. Hopefully, we’ll see them. I think my gut tells me maybe we won’t see them back until the Brighton game.

“But hey, they might come back and be in a great condition. And he might decide that they are ready to play or be on the bench against Villa. We’ll see. But I don’t think you want to push them. You don’t want to rush either of those two players.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Gold’s comments will certainly come as some encouragement ahead of the Premier League run-in with the side only getting stronger on the pitch as well as off it.

However, the update to emerge on Skipp’s fitness is a reminder the pair should not be rushed back into action too soon as it could potentially make the issue worse.

One thing which may concern Spurs fans is Skipp’s season ended with surgery last season and the second half of the current campaign has been marred by his pelvic issue.

But with Sergio Reguilon missing at the weekend against Newcastle United, the possible return of Sessegnon could come as a huge boost for Conte.
