Tottenham Hotspur could be set to be without Oliver Skipp for the remainder of the season as he continues to struggle through injury.

This is according to the Tottenham correspondent for football.london, Emma de Vue, who was speaking on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel.

Spurs have been without their young midfielder since January after he was sidelined through a pelvic injury which he has been unable to recover from.

There was some optimism about a potential return to action for the 21-year-old earlier this month when he returned to training at Hotspur Way.

However, his on-field action was halted when the midfielder felt the injury issue rear its ugly head again which has seemingly put a return this season in doubt.

“He [Conte] was saying as well to sort of have that pre-season, where he can just really, you know, the worst thing we’d want to do is bring him back too early, and then you know, something goes wrong, and then it just gets worse, and goes even more downhill.

“You know, obviously, I agree, I think we have missed him. But it’s whether that risk is worth taking. And as far as I know, I don’t think he’s sort of that much closer to a return.”

This will likely come as a big disappointment to many Spurs fans given the youngster had made such a big impression on Antonio Conte in a short space of time.

However, it will be crucial Spurs return the midfielder back to action when he this injury issue is a thing of the past with the potential of rushing him back and potentially making it worse.

Skipp has now missed a large portion of the season and although there is a lot riding on the final six games, we do not think it is worth risking Skipp’s long-term fitness over.
