Tottenham Hotspur managed to have their grip on that coveted fourth place weakened after a sorry 1-0 loss against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The game was far from a spectacle, with it taking until the last minute of normal time to see the tie settled. Leandro Trossard was on hand for Brighton to snatch all three points to dent Spurs’ chances of playing in the Champions League next season.

Although the main talking point will be the defeat, Antonio Conte appeared to have completely put his recent absence behind him, clearing up in time to be in the dugout.

Will Son become a Spurs legend?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Alasdair Gold was keen to notice how the Italian was acting on the touchline, with him still appearing to be his usual self, he had the following to say:

“In case you were wondering, Antonio Conte’s bout of [the virus] has not calmed him down at all. He’s still surging around his technical area, pointing, shouting and gesturing and the crowd are already singing his name just eight minutes in.”

TIF thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Conte is known for his passionate reactions on the touchline, with his antics resulting in Spurs introducing a ‘Conte Cam’ on their YouTube channel. A camera that follows the Italian in and around the dugout to see what he gets up to throughout the 90 minutes.

Although the Conte Cam will be another interesting watch from this game, the only thing that matters is Spurs now have a harder task should they qualify for the Champions League next season after failing to stretch the gap to six points.

Spurs are still in the top four in the table with just six games remaining for Conte’s side to determine their fate next season as they look to beat North London rivals Arsenal to a Champions League spot. However, they now only have a three-point cushion despite playing two games more.
