Tottenham Hotspur lost ground on the top-four race over the weekend as they made it two consecutive games without a win in the Premier League

And Antonio Conte was left far from impressed with his players on Saturday, with Alasdair Gold issuing a dressing room claim from the Brentford Community Stadium.

Will Spurs finish in the top four?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold claimed the Italian was left almost silent in the dressing room after his side were held to a goalless draw.

The draw has allowed Arsenal to take pole position for the final Champions League spot in the table, however, Tottenham’s destiny remains in their own hands.

And it is apparent Conte was hoping the players would pick up on his disappointment after the game, as Gold revealed what was said behind the scenes.

Gold said: “He has tried every approach with the players – he’s blasted them publicly, he’s protected them publicly, he’s shouted at them behind the scenes. And yesterday [Saturday], from what I understand, he did the other way, which is not really saying anything to them after the game.

“Which, you know, that ‘disappointed dad’ thing, that way of dealing that the players think: ‘Oh man, he’s going to absolutely kill us on the training pitches this week, isn’t he, we are done’.

“I don’t know whether it was a bit of that, a bit of everything. But that’s what I’m told, that he didn’t really vocalise much at all, if anything, in the dressing room, just to let them stew on their performance, I guess.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

It has been a difficult two games for the Lilywhites, with just one point picked up from their games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.

However, the wing-backs have been under huge criticism in those games, which could suggest it may be time for Conte to try something different for the upcoming matches.

There is no doubt additions are needed in the summer, but when the wing-backs are dropping back-to-back 4/10 displays against Brighton and Brentford, it could be a sign for change.
