Leeds United striker Tyler Roberts has shared a photo of himself on Instagram with the caption “healing” as he continues his recovery from injury.

£7.2m-valued Roberts featured in 23 games for the Whites this term before disaster struck. During the West Yorkshire outfit’s 1-0 defeat to Leicester City at the start of March, the Wales international ruptured a hamstring tendon, and following surgery, it was revealed he would miss the rest of the season.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

According to the club, the operation was successful, and the 23-year-old is now recovering as he aims to be ready for the next campaign. On Monday, he took to Instagram to share a photo of himself, with the caption indicating his situation is improving.

TIF Thoughts on Roberts…

Of course, all at the club and the supporters will wish Roberts well as he recovers from a damaging setback. Unfortunately, the fans would have to admit that they have not really missed the centre-forward since he has been out of the action.

Since the Foxes clash, Leeds have won three out of five Premier League games, scoring nine goals along the way. Roberts, meanwhile, has managed just one strike this term in the league, and his only other strike came for the Under-23s in a defeat to Chelsea. That is emblematic of his career at Elland Road, with him scoring only nine times in 108 outings.

Does Roberts have a future at Leeds?

Yes

No

No

While the Whites’ defence – more than their attack – has been their downfall this campaign (they have conceded more than any other side in the top flight), they have clearly missed Patrick Bamford, who has been restricted to just 559 minutes of Premier League action. Roberts just wasn’t able to fill that void, and it is hard to see him working his way back into Jesse Marsch’s side when he eventually returns from injury.
