Plenty of Southampton supporters will be excited for the future after seeing some stunning footage emerge of a youth player recently.

Earlier this week, the Saints U23 side thumped Newcastle United 5-0 in a Premier League 2 Division 2 game.

One academy talent, in particular, caught the eye on the occasion. Indeed, Tyler Dibling hit a first-half hat-trick at St James’ Park.

The club’s official Twitter account shared footage of his first goal, which sees the youngster drive from inside his own half before eventually rifling in a low effort past the opposition goalkeeper.

To make things even more impressive, they also included clips of his other two goals, which are almost identical strikes.

TIF Thoughts on Tyler Dibling and Southampton…

The attacker certainly seems to be one to keep an eye on for the future. Indeed, beyond his latest exploits, he has scored and assisted plenty for the U18 side this season, too (via Transfermarkt).

Still only 16 years of age, Southampton fans likely won’t be able to wait until he makes his senior debut for the club. And considering the struggles a few of their first-team attackers have had of late – such as Shane Long and Adam Armstrong – they might want him in and around the team sooner rather than later.

For now, though, he’ll have to keep on shining in the club’s academy. This shouldn’t be a problem for Dibling, especially as he managed to claim an assist for the winning goal when he made his Premier League 2 debut aged just 15.
