Allan Saint-Maximin has revealed in an interview with Sky Sports he wants to stay at Newcastle United for a long time despite links of a move away from the club.

The Frenchman signed for Newcastle United in 2019 from OGC Nice for £16.2 million, and has gone on to make 86 appearances in all competitions in the three seasons that he has been at the club, whilst scoring 12 goals and assisting 14 times, according to Transfermarkt.

The French winger has been linked with a move away from St James’s Park with Eddie Howe reportedly willing to listen to offers for his services.

Despite the rumours, Saint-Maximin has said in an interview with Sky Sports on Twitter how important the Newcastle faithful are to him and that he wants to stay at the club for a ‘long time’.

“The Newcastle fans are really, really, really important to me. With the love they give me and everything, I’m so proud to be in this club and to be there,” Saint-Maximin said.

“I really want to stay here for a long time.”

TIF Thoughts on Saint-Maximin’s comments…

Saint-Maximin has been valued at £28.8 million by Transfermarkt and has been impressive for the Magpies in terms of stats this season. In the Premier League, he has the most goal involvements (8) for his side, he has created the most big chances (5), and has the third most key passes on average per game (3), as per Sofa Score.

It will be great news for the Newcastle faithful to hear Saint-Maximin is happy at the club after there have been links of a move away from St. James’ Park for him in the summer.

With the Saudi takeover, the Magpies are expected to bring in better players in the summer, and Saint-Maximin could be playing with players more on his wavelength so this could help take his performances to the next level
