“Never say never” regarding a potential transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Newcastle United for superstar Neymar.

That is according to football journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has been speaking to This Is Futbol regarding reports that Newcastle have been monitoring the Brazilian’s progress at PSG.

There have been suggestions that Neymar could be set for a shock move to the Premier League, with Newcastle said to be a potential destination for the Brazilian, according to reports in Spain.

Neymar has been somewhat out of form for PSG this season, as he has scored just five goals and assisted three times in 15 Ligue 1 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

With the negative atmosphere that is apparent with Neymar and PSG currently, O’Rourke has claimed that the deal to Newcastle is “highly unlikely” but has not ruled out a move to St James’ Park for the winger.

He said: “Highly unlikely. You never say never in football, it’s a strange old game at times, and Newcastle obviously are the new rich boys on the parade really right now, so money is no option for them.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Although Neymar has been briefly linked with a move to Newcastle in the summer, it is a deal that doesn’t look likely, so maybe one for the Magpies faithful not to get their hopes up for.

Newcastle have been linked to a whole heap of players since their takeover, but Neymar could be deemed as the most outrageous one so far, he has made 457 club appearances, whilst scoring an impressive 267 goals and registering 168 assists, as per Transfermarkt.

Despite the Brazilian winger having some conflict with current club PSG for his poor performances, especially in the Champions League, it is still hard to see him joining Newcastle, so early on in their new look as a wealthy club.
