Spurs are entering a crucial stage of the season as Antonio Conte looks to guide his side to a top-four finish to secure Champions League football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for next season.
The Lilywhites are currently three points off the top four, but have played a game more than the team currently occupying that coveted fourth place.
Interestingly, it is Spurs’ rivals Arsenal that sit there at the moment, with the two sides still to play before the season finishes.

And with Harry Kane linked with a move away and Antonio Conte allowing his emotions to boil over at times this season – there are concerns that they may look to leave the club if they fail to reach the Champions League.
Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold felt that while a top-four finish would be a boost, Spurs can still show the ambition to keep their prized assets at the club during the summer.
He said: “Look, there’s no getting around the fact that getting into the Champions League would be a major boost for certainly Harry Kane – I think keeping him, playing at the top level of football again, and obviously financially, it’ll be a big boost.
“Personally, I don’t think it should have to be a sliding doors moment. I’d be absolutely bewildered if Daniel Levy and Spurs and the board and all that are thinking if we don’t get top four, that’s that. I think they have to get into this summer and regardless of the top four, match Antonio Conte’s ambition.”

You would be surprised if the board just accept that no top four means no Harry Kane – after their efforts last season, you’d imagine they’ll do everything they can to keep their star striker.

Gold is spot on with what he says about Conte as well. If Spurs fail to make the top four, it could be harder to keep a manager with the pedigree of Conte. He has nine major honours in his career and wants to be at the top level. To keep him, Daniel Levy and co will certainly have to match the Italian’s ambition or run the risk of losing him.
