Antonio Conte will be keeping an eye on the progress of former Spurs player Christian Eriksen after he has performed well for Brentford since his return to the Premier League.

This is courtesy of football journalist Dean Jones when he spoke to This Is Futbol after the former Spurs man scored for Denmark over the international break.

Eriksen has featured four times for Brentford this season and has hit something of a scoring streak, netting whilst playing for his nation against Netherlands and Serbia before scoring in the Bees’ 4-1 victory over Chelsea this weekend.

The Dane spent seven seasons at Spurs, where he made 226 Premier League appearances, scoring 51 goals and registering 62 assists, so if he can start to get back to full fitness, Conte may be interested in bringing him back to the club.

With the connection that Eriksen has with Spurs, Jones highlighted that the north London club will be tracking his progress ahead of the summer transfer window.

He said: “Eriksen will weigh up his options in the summer. And Tottenham would, of course, be keeping an eye on it, too.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments…

It will be interesting to see whether Eriksen will complete a fairytale story and make a return to Tottenham in the summer after the events that occurred at Euro 2020.

Harry Kane was sure to send his good friend a message following the incident after playing together in north London prior to the Danish attacker’s exit.

Eriksen left Spurs on the back of a lacklustre final few months with Spurs where he started just 10 times before a January switch to Inter, but Conte will have seen what he can do having taken him to the San Siro, and if he can continue to progress for Brentford in the remainder of the season, the Italian coach may become increasingly interested.

It certainly seems as though Brentford boss Thomas Frank is impressed with what the attacking midfielder has been doing, as he hailed him for his ‘incredible’ display in his first start for the west London club, while Pontus Jansson labelled him a ‘superstar‘ for how he’s settled in.

Whether a Spurs return is on the cards remains to be seen, but it certainly seems as though the Dane is on his former club’s radar.
