Journalist George Caulkin has revealed on Pod on the Tyne that he spoke to Amanda Staveley after Newcastle United’s win last week.

Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi were once again in attendance at St James’ Park as they saw their club pick up a huge three points and move 10 ahead of the bottom three, with Ghodoussi getting involved in the flag display organised by Wor Flags, which will have made a lot of fans smile.

However, while they will have enjoyed the game a lot as Eddie Howe guided his side to a victory, Staveley wanted to send her thanks to the NUFC Trust after she and her husband met with the group pre-match to discuss all things Newcastle and Magpies supporters.

Caulkin has shared what Staveley said after the Newcastle game regarding the Trust.

He said: “I exchanged messages with Amanda after the match and she talked about how proud she was to sit with the fans last night, one family, one shared love of this great club. She also said she wanted to get across just how much she enjoyed meeting the Trust and how important that felt.”

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

After more than a decade of silence and anger between Mike Ashley and Newcastle United supporters, having owners who are willing and wanting to meet with fans to discuss how to make the club better may seem surreal for many supporters.

The NUFC Trust is made up of an elected board of Newcastle fans who speak to the club on behalf of the supporters and its members with anyone able to join – they just need to pay a £2 joining fee to get their voice heard and this means that there is a clear way of communication from the supporters up to the very top of the club.
