Chris Waugh has been speaking on Pod on the Tyne about what Eddie Howe has managed to do at Newcastle United.

While many people outside of Newcastle will point toward the fact that Howe was allowed to splash out over £90 million during the January transfer window when it comes to the club’s amazing turnaround in form, the performances from the likes of Joelinton, Fabian Schar and Jonjo Shelvey point towards it being a case of more than just the money spent.

Should Howe win Manager of the Season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

For example, Schar was hardly ever featuring under Steve Bruce, but now under Howe, he’s only missed two games and made several of Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week lineups. Just how well Howe has managed to improve every player in the squad, even ones that haven’t been regular starters, is what has been spoken about within the club.

Waugh spoke about how the manager is still improving players that aren’t playing very much at Newcastle.

He said: “The way that Howe is with them, the way that he’s improving each of the players who aren’t even playing, the levels that he’s risen everyone to. That sort of positivity within the camp – and yes, it’s easy to say that at the minute because they’re winning, but that has been the murmurings ever since Eddie Howe has come in.”

TIF Thoughts on the work Howe has done…

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Prior to Howe’s arrival, Joelinton was a failed striker and winger that had been ‘hammered‘ by Joe Thomlinson of Sky Sports, and as mentioned above, Schar – who has recently captained the side, such is his influence – was rarely seen under Bruce.

Now though, those two are very much key players under Howe for the way he wishes his side to play. Newcastle United are currently on an eight-game unbeaten run at home in the Premier League which stretches back to before the January transfer window even opened, thus proving that Howe’s work on the training pitch is a very big reason behind the club’s recent form and not just the money spent.
