Pundit Paul Robinson has claimed that Mateusz Klich could be dropped from the Leeds starting XI on Monday night against Crystal Palace.

Leeds United are currently just five points above the drop zone with five games to play but have a brilliant chance to extend the gap on Monday night when they face Crystal Palace. Kalvin Phillips has not started a game for the Whites since December 5th but he has come off the bench in Leeds’ previous two fixtures.

Mateusz Klich and Robin Koch were the midfield duo against Watford when Jesse Marsch’s side impressively won 3-0, but with Phillips coming on after half an hour, the American may opt to start him on Monday night.

With the expected return to the starting line-up for Kalvin Phillips against Palace, Paul Robinson spoke to MOT Leeds News and highlighted that he believes Klich will be the man to make way for the Englishman in the heart of midfield.

“For me, Phillips and [Adam] Forshaw both come in if they’re fit and able to play 90 minutes,”

“I know they played well at Watford so I don’t think both Phillips and Forshaw will come back in.

“Forshaw’s been out so he’ll probably have to get his game-time off the bench. Phillips should come in alongside either Klich or Koch. It’ll probably be alongside Koch if Jesse Marsch is going to play that way again,” Robinson said.

TIF Thoughts on Paul Robinson’s comments…

Mateusz Klich, who is valued at £3.6 million (as per Transfermarkt), has been a mainstay in the Leeds midfield this season, but he hasn’t been in the best form on a personal level. In the Premier League, he is ranked 21st in the Leeds squad for his average player rating per game (6.69), he is ranked 12th on the average amount of tackles per game (1.5), and is ranked 14th on average accurate long passes per game (0.8), as per Sofascore.

Even though Klich has started all four games in Leeds’ current unbeaten spell, he has been out of form for the majority of the season, and with Kalvin Phillips gradually returning to full match fitness, he may replace the Polish midfielder for the remainder of the season.

However, with Adam Forshaw now set to be out for the rest of the season, it remains to be seen as to who Marsch will opt to go for in the remainder of the current campaign.
