Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that Oliver Skipp’s injury has been a real shame for Spurs and they may have to take action if it is a long term issue.

Oliver Skipp’s last outing for Tottenham Hotspur was January 23rd in the Premier League against Chelsea, he has not featured since due to an ongoing pelvic issue. However, the English midfielder was handed a new contract with Spurs that will see him stay at the club until at least 2027.

The English midfielder was enjoying a solid spell of games in the first half of the Premier League before his injury, he made 18 appearances in the league with 14 of those being from the start.

After Skipp has had a frustrating season since the turn of the year, Michael Bridge stated to GiveMeSport that further action may be required to sort out the issue if it is long-term.

“They tried to get him to do some outfield work, but every time he felt some discomfort.

“But if the player keeps coming out and feeling discomfort they might have to say, ‘we’re going to have to sit down and sort this out if it’s a long-term issue’. It’s a real shame for him,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Michael Bridge’s comments…

Oliver Skipp spent last season on loan with Norwich in the Championship where he featured 45 times in the league and helped the Canaries gain promotion back to the Premier League. This was enough to earn him a spot in the Spurs squad and he was regularly featured in the starting XI before his injury.

He has been impressive this season for Spurs in terms of stats, in the Premier League he has the joint highest average passing accuracy per game (90%), he gives the ball away on average just 6.4 times per game and gives away on average under 1 foul per game, as per Sofascore.

Skipp’s absence has been a huge loss for Antonio Conte, and it will be a massive boost if he can feature between now and the end of the season as Spurs look to push and secure Champions League qualification ahead of next season.
