Manchester United should have their new manager confirmed within the next 2-3 weeks, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist was speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel following United’s latest defeat on the weekend at the hands of Everton.

Is Ten Hag your first choice for the job?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Reports suggest Erik ten Hag is still the favourite to become the new man in the dugout at Old Trafford, but there is believed to be competition coming from RB Leipzig.

With The Telegraph reporting talks between the two parties are advancing, it is apparent the Dutchman is only willing to accept the role at United if his terms are agreed upon.

And with interim boss Ralf Rangnick unable to turn around United’s struggles, Romano believes Ten Hag could be confirmed as the new permanent manager by the end of the month.

He said: “It’s not going to be long. It’s not going to be like May or something like that. I expect that this month, the decision will be made. But [on the] same point, the feeling is still confident, is still positive at this moment. So my answer is I see very good chances for Erik ten Hag to become the new manager.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

It has been a difficult season for the Red Devils and it appears like it may be petering out following a terrible defeat on the weekend to a struggling Everton side.

With a six-point gap to the top four, we think many fans will already be looking ahead to next season and will therefore be delighted to hear Romano’s comments.

Having Ten Hag announced before the end of the season should be great news for the club as it will allow the relevant people plenty of time to plan ahead for the summer window.

With no trophies to play for and Champions League qualification looking increasingly unlikely, there will be a huge emphasis on the board to get this summer’s transfer window right at Old Trafford.
