Leeds United will return their interest back to central midfielder John Swift in the summer with the club having a long-term interest in the 26-year-old.

That is according to insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to This Is Futbol ahead of the summer transfer window as the Whites edge closer to Premier League survival.

Although the Yorkshire club are not mathematically safe, Jesse Marsch’s side are definitely on their way to retaining their spot in the top flight for next season.

It has been claimed the £5.4m-rated 26-year-old was prepared to see out the season with Reading in order to have his choice of club in the summer when he becomes a free agent.

Having already been linked to the Reading midfielder, Jones believes the Whites will likely make another move for him in the summer window:

I think he’ll still be on the radar. I think that John Swift will still move in the summer. Leeds have been such long-term admirers and it wasn’t just [Marcelo] Bielsa that was involved in that, obviously. So he’s definitely someone that they’re going to look into again.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

There will be an obvious focus on the future of Kalvin Phillips’ future at Elland Road this summer, however, adding to the midfield still seems to be an important task for the summer.

The Leeds midfield has been struck by a number of injuries this season and with a clear lack 0f creativity coming from that area, Swift, who has been described as a ‘fantastic talent’ could be an option to change that.

Swift has been in sensational form this season with 11 goals and 13 assists in the Championship this season and if he could carry that type of form into the Premier League could provide Marsch with a huge boost.
