Lee Ryder has been speaking about some potentially early team news for Newcastle United following Eddie Howe’s press conference.

Newcastle United are getting ready to host a home Premier League for the first time since March 5th which was a 2-1 home victory and since then they have had four consecutive away games, losing three of them in a row, so home comforts are certainly needed.

Should Almiron start tonight?

Eddie Howe has admitted that he will have to make a late fitness call on Joe Willock who is nursing a knee injury, however, on some more positive news Miguel Almiron, who missed the last match through illness, is back available for selection and has been seen in training this week.

Howe spoke specifically about the Paraguayan midfielder, claiming that he was ‘delighted’ to have Almiron back, this is despite the 28-year old having only started two-game sunder Howe, although they were the last two he was available for, hinting towards that he may have won over the manager recently.

Ryder went on to say: ‘Almiron is back, which will give Eddie Howe another option going into this game, Almiron hasn’t featured a lot under Eddie Howe. It feels like not that long ago he was the main man at Newcastle in terms of getting praise and support from everybody.

Now Newcastle have used other players ahead of him, so it’s going to be interesting to see how he figures in the last few games of the season. Eddie Howe did that he was delighted he’s back, so maybe that’s a little hint that he’s going to get some involvement going into the run-in.’

An easy one to start with, which player was booked after pushing Bentancur to the ground?

TIF Thoughts on Almiron…

In the past few years, Almiron’s agent has talked up interest in the player from some top European clubs, but surely they will now be looking on at a player who has struggled to get regular minutes in a relegation-threatened side and not see him s anywhere near a viable option.

With the Magpies coming off an embarrassing 5-1 away defeat, it would not be surprising to see Howe shuffle the pack and make some big changes to try and stop the rot of three defeats in a row, which could include the likes of Almiron, Bruno Guimaraes or even Sean Longstaff as Howe looks for answers.
