Phil Hay has been speaking about the information he has on the future of Robin Koch at Leeds United.

Koch is one of the few players within Leeds United’s squad that is a full international and receives regular call ups to the German national side from manager Hansi Flick, but despite this, he’s only been afforded the 11 starts in the league this season and has suffered a few injuries and setbacks.

His severe lack of game time in a World Cup year has seen recent reports suggest that he could be set for the Elland Road exit door this summer with Jesse Marsch looking to put his own stamp on this squad assembled by Marcelo Bielsa.

Hay has revealed the information he has on Koch’s future and any potential transfer away from Leeds on The Phil Hay Show.

(30:26) “I’ve always liked Koch’s game, I think that there’s a very, very good player there he’s just a player who hasn’t been fit enough and hasn’t been in the team enough.

“I’ve heard nothing from Leeds to say that they would look at moving him on in the summer, but I did see the reports earlier this week. As with quite a few players, it’s going to be quite interesting, isn’t it this window.”

TIF Thoughts on Koch’s future…

Koch was one of the many signings that Leeds United made as they were set to embark on their first premier League journey for a number of years and splashed out £11.70 million for the centre back but he’s not been able to dislodge any of Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk or Diego Llorente.

The centre back will turn 26-years old later this year in what will be a key time during his career as he could either kick on and establish himself as a regular in the Premier League and at Elland Road, or potentially head back to the Bundesliga where he first made a name for himself in search of regular first-team football to ensure he makes the World Cup squad this winter.
