Antonio Conte has shed some light on how the young striker, Dane Scarlett, has impressed him behind the scenes in training at Hotspur Way.

Journalist Alasdair Gold picked up on the Italian’s comments about the youngster following their latest victory against West Ham United on the weekend.

Should Spurs loan Scarlett out next season?

Unprompted, Conte spoke about how the 18-year-old striker had impressed him recently despite only playing a handful of minutes under the Italian:

“I’m seeing a lot of improvement today in [Dane] Scarlett honestly if I have to tell you. Seeing that this guy is improving a lot, he’s only 17-years-old [at the time] but I can tell you that he is a really important prospect for Tottenham,” Conte said after the West Ham win.

And Alasdair Gold believes the youngster must be doing something right at Hotspur Way to impress Conte given he has only been able to feature for 10 minutes under the 52-year-old:

“Conte gave him huge praise this week and believes he has a “brilliant future” ahead of him, which suggests he’s working hard and developing well behind the scenes,” Gold wrote for football.london.

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Spurs fans will love to hear this with Scarlett setting the U18 Premier League alight last season with seven goals in just six appearances (via Transfermarkt).

It could be viewed as a difficult season for Scarlett given he has spent the majority of his time watching on from the Spurs dugout with not many chances to make much of an impression.

However, it should come as a huge confidence boost to him that Conte clearly has a lot of belief in him and what he can achieve and insists his time will come.
