Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Leeds United winger Helder Costa will be made available for transfer in the summer by Jesse Marsch.

Helder Costa joined Leeds United on an initial loan deal in 2019 and went on to make 43 appearances in the 2019/20 campaign when Leeds gained promotion to the Premier League, which consequently led to Marcelo Bielsa signing the winger on a permanent deal. However, since then things haven’t worked out and he has featured just 23 times in the top flight for Leeds.

The winger was out of favour at Leeds under Bielsa in the Premier League last season so was sent out on loan to Valencia in La Liga last summer, but it’s not looking likely that he’ll make his move permanent as he has made just 11 league starts this season.

With the Spanish club perhaps not too keen on the 28-year-old winger, Dean Jones reported to GIVEMESPORT that Marsch will probably be looking to offload him in the summer.

“I think it’s most likely that Helder Costa will be made available for transfer. Valencia are not going to sign him but they are still open to him being moved on,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Helder Costa…

Helder Costa has been valued at just £7.2 million (as per Transfermarkt), which is a massive decline as he was sold initially to Leeds for over double this fee.

The 28-year-old has been poor this campaign whilst on loan in La Liga. He is yet to score, has an average of 0.1 shots on target per game, and loses possession on average 9.1 times every 53 minutes, as per Sofascore.

With his market value being so low, Jesse Marsch will be hoping that he can get the winger off his wage bill immediately in the summer after he has failed to show any type of form whilst on loan this season. He did feature 43 times in the Championship for Leeds and played a big part in their promotion to the Premier League, so maybe a move back to the second division of English football would be best suited for him.
