Tottenham Hotspur wing-back Ryan Sessegnon could be out for longer than the north London club initially feared with his latest hamstring injury.

Journalist Alasdair Gold was speaking about the 21-year-old on his latest YouTube video and what Antonio Conte has had to say about the matter.

Who is better?

The Spurs youngster had begun to make an impact on the north London side over the last month with a run of games in the starting XI, however, he suffered yet another hamstring injury against Everton.

Sessegnon was withdrawn at half-time in the game last week in N17 and Conte has revealed it is another injury on his left leg: “We are talking about a situation that unfortunately is repeating. Not only in this season but also in the past,” he said.

However, Gold spoke in more detail of the extremity of the injury and how the 21-year-old is dealing with his latest setback after only recently returning to the action after a different injury issue:

(34:50) “Sessegnon’s going to be out for – Spurs are saying a month – from what I understand that even could be quite conservative and maybe more five, six weeks.

“Hopefully, you know, it might heal quickly, but just feel so sorry for Sess. So unfortunate, it’s a different part of his hamstring. It’s the same hamstring I think it’s the left one. But it’s a different part of it. The hamstring is technically a group of three muscles, and yeah it’s a different part.

“So, in one aspect, that’s good, because it’s not a reoccurrence of another injury. It’s just unfortunate. He’s just had another hamstring injury. And that’s, you know, he needs to get over that, he does, because they are too common for him. He mustn’t let it define him. Conte said the other day he’s very down, Sessegnon. Very frustrated.”

TIF Thoughts on Sessegnon’s injury…

It is such a shame Sessegnon has managed to pick up yet another injury. He was just beginning to pick up some consistency in the Spurs side with an impressive display against Leeds United last month.

And although Sergio Reguilon was able to provide the cross for Harry Maguire’s own goal on the weekend, there are definitely some question marks over his performances.

With the Spaniard not exactly living up to the £27m price tag with just three assists this season, we think there will still be the spot at left wing-back to be had for Sessegnon to win back when he is able to return.
