Former player Willie Miller has praised James Tavernier after he helped his side comfortably beat Dundee 3-0 in the quarter-final of the SFA cup.

James Tavernier has been superb again this campaign for Rangers having contributed with 12 assists and six goals in 28 Scottish Premiership games, according to Transfermarkt.

And, he appeared to catch the eye of Willie Miller in the most recent cup game as he praised him on the Sportsound Podcast after his impressive performance against Dundee on Sunday which helped his side win 3-0 away from home.

(33:44) “Tavernier a bit of quality isn’t he, just a sensational player. It was an easy afternoon for rangers,” Miller said.

TIF Thoughts on James Tavernier…

Willie Miller wasn’t the only one impressed with the defender as the Scotsman gave him an 8/10 for his display.

Indeed, it’s not just this most recent game that he’s been impressing in as across the seven seasons that Tavernier has been at Rangers, he has been a mainstay in the side, whilst racking up 332 appearances, scoring 77 times and assisting 105 times, from right-back.

Tavernier captained Rangers to a long-awaited Scottish Premiership title win last season, the 30-year-old played a huge part in the league win with his 19 goals and 16 assists, which made him Ranger’s top scorer in all competitions.

His performances on the pitch have caused many to think that he deserves an International call-up, but it is arguably rare as an Englishman playing in Scotland, that you will get called up to the national side.
