Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte does not hold back in his praise for the young midfielder Oliver Skipp.

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge who was speaking to This Is Futbol amid the midfielder’s injury issue which has seen him sidelined since January.

Does Skipp deserve a new contract?

And Bridge has revealed how highly the Italian manager has spoken of the 21-year-old during his press conferences when the cameras have been turned off.

Skipp returned to north London in the summer after a season-long loan with Norwich City and played a big role in the starting XI under the 52-year-old manager.

The Spurs youth product has made 14 appearances under the Italian and was a mainstay in his starting XI until he sustained the pelvic injury which has kept him out for two months.

And Bridge revealed what the Spurs boss has had to say about the midfielder to the media in his press conferences when the cameras have been switched off:

I mean, Skipp, I tell you something, I’ve been in Conte’s last three of his four pressers. And when they turn the cameras off, and he’s with the written press, he really goes to town on Skipp. He loves him. He loves him,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

This only adds to the glowing reviews Conte has given his young midfielder with the Spurs manager clearly a frustrated character over Skipp’s injury setback.

And with the 21-year-old possibly returning after the international break, we do wonder whether he will slot straight back into Conte’s XI or whether he will have to win his spot back?

In his absence, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have formed an encouraging partnership that has seen Spurs win back-to-back league games for the first time this year.
