Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon has been a first team regular in his time at Spurs, playing 65 times for them already, more than he has managed for any other club.

In that time, he has contributed 11 goals so has clearly been a threat in attack for Spurs as well. His transfer from Real Madrid saw them insert a buy-back clause in his contract.

Should Spurs sell Reguilon in the summer?

However, he seemed to have fallen out of favour with Antonio Conte until Ryan Sessegnon was injured, so if the buy-back option was explored by Madrid, would Conte stand in his way?

Journalist Pete O’Rourke doesn’t think so, and had the following to say on a potential exit for the Spanish defender: “I think if the offer was there or Real Madrid decide to take up the buy-back option, I’m sure Conte wouldn’t stand in his way and use the money to improve his defensive options.”

TIF thoughts on Sergio Reguilon…

If Conte isn’t convinced by the Spaniard, then cashing in on him would make a lot of sense. It would boost the transfer kitty that the Italian would have to spend in the summer and would allow him to bring in someone who he is convinced by to bolster his defensive options.

Regardless of his opinions on the £25.2m-rated Reguilon, he needs him to be at his best. Spurs aren’t far away snatching a top four spot. They’re three points behind Arsenal but have played a game more so need a near enough perfect run in to stand a chance of clinching Champions League football.
