Everton’s season has gone from bad to worse, with the Merseyside outfit facing the genuine threat of relegation.

They’re one of a few teams to have never been relegated from the Premier League (since the name change) and haven’t played second tier football since the 1950s. However, that is under serious threat.

Frank Lampard’s side sit just one place above the drop zone, holding a slender three point cushion to those below them, although the Toffees do have some games in hand.

Should the unthinkable happen and they do go down, you’d expect a number of big players to leave, with Allan being one of the main ones.

Pete O’Rourke was convinced that the Brazilian would not want to play in the Championship: “You’d have the likes of Allan, who was a big-name arrival from Napoli. I’m sure he wouldn’t want to be playing in the Championship.”

TIF thoughts on Allan and Everton…

He has played 26 games in all competitions for Everton this season, taking his tally to 52 outings in blue. Allan is clearly an influential player on Merseryside, only missing a handful of Premier League games this season.

Which manager used to play for Everton's academy?

Unfortunately, losing players such as Allan will only be natural after a relegation and would leave Everton needing to rebuild because you can’t imagine he’d be the only player to leave. The likes of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin would surely also be far from keen to endure a season in the Championship, especially with a World Cup on the horizon.
