Tottenham Hotspur are believed not to be involved in the reported resurgence of the plans for the European Super League.

This is according to the reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold who was speaking about his understanding on his latest YouTube video.

Do you think the ESL will go ahead?

Yes

No

Reports have emerged earlier this week suggesting the European Super League is still in the plans of some teams who are prepared to rebel.

However, Gold has suggested the north London club – who were initially involved in the plans – are not believed to be involved in any possible breakaway anymore.

The initial plans for Spurs to break away with the European Super League plans saw fans protest their anger towards the Tottenham board and speaking earlier this week, Gold says people within the club do not know of any plans to pursue the plans:

“There have been some little rumblings that the Super League might be relaunched again today or certainly notification served.

“From those I’ve spoke to a few people around Tottenham, they’ve kind of been a bit like, we don’t know anything about this. So would suggest I think some of the other suggestions from reports seem to be that Tottenham aren’t going to be involved.”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs and the ESL…

We are sure this news will come as a welcome surprise to the majority of Spurs fans with the initial announcement of Spurs being involved receiving such backlash.

The relationship between the Spurs board and the fans is still not in the best of states with frustrations over the club’s transfer business in January.

However, we think Gold’s comments will be appreciated by the fans that the club has listened to their demands and chosen to stay away from the proposed European Super League.
