Matt Doherty has posted a rallying call on Instagram following Tottenham Hotspur’s commanding victory on Monday night.

Doherty put in what was possibly his best performance in a Spurs shirt on Monday night, picking up two assists and a clean sheet, which continued his good run of form in front of goal as he scored against Leeds United on the previous weekend.

The Republic of Ireland international has now started the last three matches for Tottenham, potentially highlighting that he is now the number-one choice at right wing-back under Antonio Conte.

Tottenham dominated Everton from start to finish, but Doherty didn’t want him or his teammates to be resting on their laurels as he posted ‘let’s keep it going’ on Instagram.

How many times did Mido score for Spurs in the 2006/07 season?

On Monday evening, Doherty scored a very impressive 9.54 WhoScored rating, which was the second-highest in the entire Spurs squad. It is a testament to how he’s started to prove himself under Conte and potentially getting back to the form he had at Wolves, when he managed to score and assist a combined total of 20 goals in two Premier League seasons.

It was no secret that Conte wanted to sign a right wing-back in January, with Adama Traore clearly the number-one target, however, after that failed, Doherty appears to have upped his game and realised this could be his last chance to prove he’s worthy of keeping around beyond the end of this season – so performances like the one on Monday night will go a long way to impressing his manager.
