Chris Waugh has revealed what Mike Dean told Eddie Howe during Newcastle United’s defeat.

Newcastle United were handed just a second defeat in their previous 11 league games which is still some feat compared to where they were when Eddie Howe first took charge of the Magpies, however, the fact they have come in consecutive matches will be concerning for the manager.

Will Howe keep Newcastle in the league?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Despite a VAR decision going in Newcastle’s favour which saw Everton reduced to 10-men when Allan was sent off but the Magpies still couldn’t pick up a positive result as they were beaten 1-0 and it was clearly getting a little much for Howe even very early on in the game.

Waugh has revealed that Eddie Howe was told to return to his technical area by fourth official Mike Dean just eight minutes into the first half as Howe realised that his side didn’t have a foothold in the game.

TIF Thoughts on Howe…

It’s great to see Eddie Howe getting so involved that he perhaps even forgets he’s not in his technical area, with his encouragement clearly working as Newcastle enjoyed a brilliant start to the game on the front foot. However, the rules are the rules and Mike Dean had every right to tell him to move back into the technical area.

Indeed, what the former Bournemouth manager has managed to do at St James’ Park is nothing short of sensational guiding them away from the bottom and onto a nine-game unbeaten run that saw him win February’s Manager of the Month award.

However, with a tough fixture list to come the end of the season, he will know that there is still plenty of work to be done if he wants to avoid being relegated for a second time as manager and also having splashed out over £90 million in the January transfer window to try and buy their way out of trouble.
