Chris Waugh has revealed what he saw during Newcastle United’s latest defeat that concerned him involving Emil Krafth.

The Magpies have certainly now been brought crashing back down to earth having lost two games in a row after a superb nine-game unbeaten run under Eddie Howe and last night’s defeat was probably the hardest one to take given they were against 10 men.

Who should start for Newcastle?

Krafth!

Manquillo!

Newcastle were handed a man advantage when Everton’s Allan was given his marching orders in the second half but couldn’t capitalise and ended up being dealt a sucker punch in 14 minutes of added time when Alex Iwobi netted the winner.

However, it wasn’t just the result and goal that should concern fans as Emil Krafth was seen limping by Waugh prior to the full-back getting substituted off.

The full-back will now head off with his teammates for some warm weather training in Dubai before he then goes his separate way and links up with the Sweden national side having received another call-up, which may not be good news for Howe who would have likely rather he remained with the squad and receive the necessary treatment.

Krafth picking up an injury four or five weeks ago would likely have not been a big issue for Howe or Newcastle fans given he’d started just twice under the manager before some injuries, but given Kieran Trippier’s long-term absence and that Javier Manquillo no longer appears to be favoured by Howe, many may be hoping that it was just a precaution to remove Krafth and that his limp was not a signal for a long term absence.
