Former Premier League chairman Simon Jordan has defended Newcastle United, their fans and ambitions for next season on TalkSport.
Newcastle have now won seven of their last eight Premier League matches and find themselves 10 points above the bottom three, having played just one more game than Burnley in 18th.

It would take a lot from the bottom three clubs to reach Newcastle and their current points total and that has seen Jim White from TalkSport claim that the Magpies have to challenge for the top four next season.
This saw Jordan jump to the defence of Newcastle and what their fans and club will be expecting to do next season as he reacted to White’s comment by saying: “Not a chance! Give your head a wobble! No chance!” before labelling what the TalkSport host said as “irresponsible”.

If Newcastle manage to beat the drop this season, which is looking increasingly likely as their unbeaten run continues, PIF and Eddie Howe will likely be thinking about what a realistic target will be.
Considering that Newcastle have finished in the top half just once in the past seven seasons they have spent in the Premier League, it would appear that a solid top-half finish with no fears of relegation could be something that fans and club would happily settle for, and no matter how much money they spend, they can’t be expecting to challenge for the top four after just two transfer windows.
