Journalist Lee Ryder has suggested a development at Newcastle United could suggest Isaac Hayden has a future with the club.

Alongside the likes of Ciaran Clark and Jamal Lewis, Hayden was left out of the Magpies’ 25-man squad for the second half of the Premier League season.

That naturally cast much doubt over his long-term situation with the side. However, Ryder recently reported for Chronicle Live that manager Eddie Howe has included Hayden on the club’s training camp to the United Arab Emirates.

It was also revealed that Callum Wilson will travel with them as he aims to make a return from injury at some stage next month.

Ryder took to Twitter to share his reaction to the news, saying: “Interesting that Toon star Isaac Hayden would have been available for run-in.”

TIF Thoughts on Isaac Hayden and Newcastle…

Part of the reason for Hayden being initially left out of the squad would have been his knee injury. But this update certainly is ‘interesting’ with the midfielder now fit.

If Howe really had no plans for the player in his future, it seems unlikely he would even bother taking him on this trip.

While Hayden may not be in the squad for the time being, there is an outside chance that injury or some other situation could lead to him being reinstated. For instance, Dan Gosling of Watford was allowed to be added back into the ‘Orns squad after Ashley Fletcher was loaned out last February, leaving a gap in the squad.

Even if such an opportunity does not arise for Hayden this season, the fact that he is still involved so closely with the squad could perhaps hint that he could be of use to Howe next season – or is at least under consideration.
