Fabrizio Romano has revealed a twist in the pursuit of Leeds United’s Raphinha.

This came from Romano’s YouTube channel amid speculation surrounding his future.

Would you be open to selling Raphinha in the summer?

Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have been linked with the Brazilian, who has also made his mark on the international stage this season for his country.

But, it appears as if Chelsea are now having to take a bit of a backseat due to the current situation surrounding the sanctions that have been imposed on Roman Abramovich.

Here’s what Romano had to say on the future of Jesse Marsch’s 25-year-old winger:

“Liverpool are interested in Raphinha, he’s doing great with Leeds and so Liverpool are keeping tabs on him. Chelsea were really serious on Raphinha. So until one month ago, they were frontrunners for Raphinha. But what happened? Because of the sanctions to Roman Abramovich, they needed to slow up on this deal.”

TIF Thoughts on Raphinha’s future…

Of course, seeing Chelsea having to drop back in their pursuit will definitely be a pleasing sight for Leeds supporters, as the last thing they’ll want is to lose Raphinha, although with the Blues currently in the process of finding potential new owners and with other clubs still eyeing the winger, perhaps this relief will only be short-lived.

Leeds completed a stunning comeback on Friday night against Wolves to give their hopes of Premier League survival a much-needed boost despite the winger being sidelined.

Raphinha has been a huge part of Leeds’ season so far and he will certainly get a lot of credit if they do manage to stay up come the end of May.

We have little doubt Leeds will want to keep hold of their top scorer in the summer, however, we will be interested to see how the player approaches the summer if he has his mind set on a move away from Elland Road.
