Thomas Muller is on the radar of Newcastle United for a shock summer transfer to St James’ Park.

Muller has been one of Bayern Munich’s star performers over the last decade and has continued this fine form this season with 19 assists and seven goals in 24 Bundesliga appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

Newcastle began their spending spree in the January transfer window when they brought in players like Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes to St James’ Park.

The latest man to be linked with a move to Newcastle is Muller, with journalist Dean Jones reporting in GiveMeSport that he is one of a number of high-profile players on their wishlist, which also includes the likes of Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

He claimed: “Thomas Muller of Bayern Munich is also on the radar to bring top-level experience.”

TIF Thoughts on the potential transfer to Newcastle for Thomas Muller…

Muller has been a mainstay in the Bayern Munich side in the Bundesliga over the past 13 seasons, playing in 404 games whilst scoring 136 goals and assisting 186 times, as per Transfermarkt.

He’s produced over seven times as many assists in all competitions as Allan Saint-Maximin this season, with Muller at 22 and the Frenchman currently on three.

With the club’s recent takeover, there has been a growing list of players that have been linked with a move to St James’ Park, but Muller would arguably one of their more outrageous targets given his stature and achievements in the game.

Just before Christmas, Newcastle were sitting in the bottom three of the Premier League and were destined for relegation to the Championship, and now they are being linked with a World Cup winner.

Muller has been a one-club man for Bayern Munich and as he is now 32 years old, he may well show his loyalty and opt to stay with the German side for the remainder of his career.

However, with Newcastle’s newfound riches, there is always a chance that if the Magpies offer him a contract lucrative enough, it may be hard for the German to turn down a move to Tyneside.
