Mark Douglas has claimed that people inside Newcastle United believe that Eddie Howe’s attention to detail and attempts to bring the squad together are really helping the players.

Newcastle are certainly reaping the rewards of their new owners and manager now, having splashed big in the January transfer window and allowed Eddie Howe to put his stamp on a team who are now eight league games unbeaten.

Ryan Fraser has recently heaped praise on Eddie Howe (via The Chronicle) for what he’s done behind the scenes at St James’ Park and at the club’s Benton training ground – which appears to be having a huge impact on everyone.

Douglas has revealed while writing for the i media outlet: “Insiders talk of Howe’s meticulous attention to detail – both on the training ground and away from it, where players are benefiting from his desire to weld the group together. The disparate cliques that undermined his predecessors are a thing of the past.”

Newcastle PL appearances quiz! This man is the all-time top Premier League appearance maker for Newcastle, but how many did he make?

Newcastle now find themselves seven points ahead of the bottom three and sitting very impressively second in the form table, only behind Liverpool. That is testament to what Howe’s done to the current squad, with the likes of Joelinton and Fabian Schar impressing lately with the former winning the club’s Player of the Month award and the latter being picked in Garth Crooks’ Team of the Week for the second consecutive week.

The money that PIF pumped into Newcastle has obviously helped the Magpies, however, it would be unfair to not credit Howe for the amount of work he’s doing behind the scenes, with Douglas also claiming in the same article that he’s getting in at 6am for training, showing his commitment to getting the most out of every single day.
