Newcastle midfielder Issac Hayden has taken to Instagram to update the Magpies faithful on his injury he picked up in December.

Issac Hayden picked up a long-term knee injury against Brighton & Hove Albion in December, and he has been left out of Eddie Howe’s 25 man Premier League squad for the remainder of the season.

The defensive midfielder was featuring regularly for the Magpies before he picked up his knee injury. Indeed, he featured 14 times in the Premier League, starting 12 of those games, according to Transfermarkt.

Hayden has now took to Instagram and posted a photo of him in the gym with the caption, “Progressing”.

TIF Thoughts on Issac Hayden…

Isaac Hayden was left out of Eddie Howe’s squad simply due to his injury which at the time of speaking Howe believed would keep him out until around April.

Newcastle were staring relegation in the eyes before Christmas, but after some January recruitment, they are now nine points clear of the bottom three and have lost just once out of their previous eight Premier League games. During this time, the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Bruno Guimaraes and Joseph Willock have really impressed, which could make it even more difficult for Hayden to work his way back in, should Howe still want him.

And, with the continued rumours that Newcastle will be bringing in new talent in the summer, this could see several current players being shown the door.
