Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel about which area of the pitch Manchester United will target this summer.

Last summer, United brought Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, with the Portuguese forward becoming the regular striker for the Red Devils. He has had a decent return in front of goal this season, with 15 across all competitions.

Do Man United need a new striker?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, he’s had to play 31 games already this term, and even for him, that could be slightly too much given his age. Considering he’s got one goal in his last 11 matches, Romano believes they’ll certainly look to sign a new striker in the summer.

Romano claims that the striker they’ll target will be at the opposite end of his career compared to Ronaldo.

He said: “To decide who will be the striker for Man United, it’s important – as also for the other positions – to understand who will be the manager, but we can say that 100%, they will go for a young striker.”

TIF Thoughts on Man United’s need for a striker…

It appears that Edinson Cavani will be leaving in the summer given his lack of game time and that his current contract expires in the summer, which would free up a striker spot and a chance for the Red Devils to plan for the future by bringing in a young and hungry attacker to replace him.

They’ve been linked with moves for the likes of Victor Osimhen and Jonathan David, who are aged 23 and 22 respectively, so could benefit from spending a season learning and playing alongside one of the greats in Ronaldo, before potentially taking over in the 2023/24 season as the man to lead the line at Old Trafford.
