Fabrizio Romano has dropped an honest update on the future of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo while speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel.

Ronaldo made a sensational return to Old Trafford in September as Manchester United fought off competition from their city rivals for the striker, but with his contract set to expire in summer 2023 and the Portuguese international likely to want Champions League football, his future looks unclear.

Will Man United make the top four?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The 37-year old is also not getting any younger, but has still been one of Man United’s best players this season with 15 goals across all competitions this season – and Romano believes that the striker is looking to stick around.

Romano dropped a positive update on what the future holds for Ronaldo at Man United.

He said: “I want to be 100% honest with you, I was asking about Cristiano last week and the answer I received is he’s not planning to leave. He’s not planning to make up stories about his future, he’s just fighting for United, he wants to fight for Man United.”

TIF Thoughts on Cristiano Ronaldo…

While the 37-year old clearly does have his limitations – which are obvious in that he can’t press very well, having successfully done so just 39 times this season out of an attempted 130 (as per FBRef) – his ability to score goals is something the Red Devils have desperately needed this season.

There is an option to extend Ronaldo’s contract into 2024, which would see him have a deal until he turns 39, which could be a bit too much even for one of the best players of all time, however, as long as he’s scoring goals, why would Man United part ways with him willingly?
