Leeds United left-back Junior Firpo had a miserable night at Elland Road on Thursday night and it was apparent he did not impress journalist Beren Cross.

Following their sixth consecutive defeat in the Premier League, Cross awarded the 25-year-old with a mere 3/10 rating for his display.

It was another night to forget for the Yorkshire club who have now conceded four goals in Jesse Marsch’s opening two games in charge.

The games are running out for the Whites to save themselves from falling into the relegation zone with the gap still two points to Burnley but now having played two extra games.

And it was apparent Firpo’s display did not help Marsch’s hopes of his first win as the left-back was at fault for Matty Cash’s goal in the second half:

“Returning to the dark early days of his Leeds career when he failed to deliver anything that resembled a defender’s performance,” Cross wrote for Leeds Live.

“Matty Cash’s goal should never have been allowed to open up the way it did, but Firpo’s charge down could not have been more easily anticipated by the right-back.”

TIF Thoughts on Cross’ analysis…

We cannot disagree with Cross. It really was yet another poor night for the left-back from the Dominican Republic who had his misery added to in the final minutes as he was stretchered off.

As well as picking up a yellow card, Firpo lost the ball 18 times, failed to complete a successful cross and was dribbled past three times (via SofaScore).

Marsch did not sound too optimistic about his injury concern post-game with Firpo’s miserable season first season in England potentially coming to a premature end.
