New Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has already been spotted at Thorp Arch training his side on set pieces ahead of their game at the weekend.

An image emerged on Twitter via Leeds correspondent Beren Cross, which showed the Whites working on set pieces in what was Marsch’s second full training session with the club.

Are you confident Marsch can turn it around?

Defending set pieces has been a huge issue for the Yorkshire club this season, with 13 of their 60 goals conceded in the Premier League coming from dead-ball situations.

Leeds have struggled defensively on the whole as they now hold the worst record in the league for the number of goals conceded, with Norwich City now having conceded five fewer.

However, there is a big emphasis on their inability to defend, with the Whites breaking the record last month for the most goals conceded in a single month in the Premier League.

Having spotted the Whites working hard on Thursday morning at their training centre, Cross tweeted a photo of the group of players and said: “Set-piece drills at Thorp Arch this morning.”

TIF Thoughts on Cross’ observation…

It seems the American has done his homework before coming to Yorkshire and is already trying to address the side’s weaknesses from the off.

The Whites are sitting just a matter of points ahead of the Premier League drop zone, and given their frailties in recent weeks defensively, any improvement could go a long way for Marsch’s side.

Leeds have failed to win a game in the Premier League since the middle of January, so we will be interested to see if the players can put some of Marsch’s principles into practice at the weekend.
