Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel about the main thing he’s worried about Jesse Marsch becoming manager at Leeds United.

Marsch was very quickly appointed as Leeds United’s new manager following the sacking of Marcelo Bielsa after a run of just two wins in their last 13 matches, which has seen them slip to just two points from the bottom three.

Will Marsch keep Leeds in the Premier League?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Leeds have handed Marsch just 12 games to keep them in the Premier League and away from the dreaded drop into the Championship, but given his lack of experience in English football and his failings in his last job with RB Leipzig – where he won five of his 14 matches – Romano is not convinced by his appointment.

Romano believes that Marsch needs time and backing to succeed at Leeds, but is unsure if he will get it.

He said: “I was really disappointed to see what happened with him at Leipzig. The team is very good, but they were not performing with Jesse Marsch.

“So it’s not easy to speak about a manager that failed with a club like Leipzig, where many times, the managers are doing good, but at Salzburg, he was doing a great job, his relationship with the players, his system. He needs some time.

“This is why I’m worried for Leeds. It is not easy to give time to an American manager coming for the first time in the Premier League.”

TIF Thoughts on Jesse Marsch at Leeds United…

It certainly is a risky appointment by Leeds as Marsch has no experience in English football, but considering he was being linked with the job even before Bielsa was sacked, it would suggest that Leeds have done a lot of research into Marsch to ensure he’s the right fit.

As and when Leeds manage to get players such as Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford and Liam Cooper back to full fitness, their chances of survival will likely take a big boost, but with Marsch’s first game coming this weekend, he has no time to think about what to do when they get back. Instead, he’s got to focus on a group of players who have conceded 10 goals and scored zero in their last two matches.
