Journalist Pete O’Rourke claims that Antoine Semenyo will be out of Celtic’s price bracket after Bristol City reportedly valued their man at £20m.

Semenyo has been in fine form for Bristol City this season in the Championship, and he has scored six goals whilst registering eight assists in 21 games, according to Transfermarkt.

This impressive form has led to several clubs becoming interested in him, with the main sides concerned being the likes of Celtic and Nottingham Forest, while a price tag was reportedly set at £20 million in January.

O’Rourke told GiveMeSport that he believes Celtic will not be able to afford the forward if his price tag is set at £20 million.

“I think if Bristol City are pricing him at £20 million, that will definitely price him out of Celtic’s bracket right now,” O’Rourke said.

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s claims…

Semenyo has been in superb form as of late and up until his last game against Nottingham Forest, he had received a SofaScore match rating of above a 7/10 in each of his previous four games.

So, there is no wonder why he has also attracted the attention of those in the top flight of English football as well as Celtic. But £20m could be deemed a sum that clubs may not be willing to pay for a Championship striker who has just six goals this campaign.

Celtic already have Daizen Maeda, who signed in January and has been in decent form in front of goal since he joined the Scottish side. So, it may not be worth Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou bringing in a £20m striker who hasn’t proven himself over a full season and has only just started to hit form in the Championship.
