Marcelo Bielsa’s trusted translator Andres Clavijo has sent a heartwarming message to Leeds United fans following his departure from the club.

Leeds confirmed on Sunday evening that they had parted ways with Marcelo Bielsa after three and a half seasons at the club, which included two memorable campaigns when they won promotion into the Premier League and were guided to a ninth-place finish last term.

Bielsa leaves Leeds just two points and two places above the dreaded drop back into the Championship, so fans will be hoping long-term target and new manager Jesse Marsch can guide them to safety come May.

However, it was not all just about Bielsa, as familiar face Clavijo, who was with Bielsa at every step of the way in the Premier League, posted on Instagram that: ‘The club and the fans will forever hold a special place in my heart.’

The fact that someone who was a translator for the main man feels this way about Leeds United after just two years at the club is a testament to how Bielsa managed to bring everyone involved with the club together very quickly.

Now though, as hard as it may be for Leeds fans, they must move on from Bielsa and get fully behind the team and Jesse Marsch, as given their atrocious run of recent form, there appears to be only one way that they’re heading – and that’s to the Championship.
