Presenter Joe Wainman has claimed that if Leeds United get relegated, Patrick Bamford may never feature for the Whites again.

Bamford has had a season riddled with injuries, he has only managed to feature nine times in the Premier League this term, and on his second start this calendar year against Wolverhampton Wanderers, was forced off after 25 minutes due to injury.

It was recently announced that Bamford would be sidelined for at least six weeks, and with the season entering the business end, the English forward could struggle to feature again this term.

Leeds United find themselves in a relegation battle as they find themselves just two places above the drop zone, and Wainman spoke on his channel on Youtube, saying that Bamford’s future would likely be away from West Yorkshire if the Whites go down.

He said: “Imagine this scenario, if Leeds United were to get relegated, then you may never see Patrick Bamford in a Leeds United shirt again.”

TIF Thoughts on Joe Wainman’s comments…

Last season, Bamford was arguably Leeds United’s star man after he scored 17 goals and registered seven assists in 38 Premier League games. Leeds’ poor form could be seen to be down to the severe injury woes that they have had to key players such as Bamford and fellow England international Kalvin Phillips.

Bamford’s stats last campaign would almost certainly be enough to earn himself a move back to the Premier League next campaign if Leeds do go on to get relegated, so we can certainly see where Wainman is coming from.

The news that Bamford could miss the remainder of the season puts a huge dagger in the chances of Jesse Marsch’s side’s chances at survival because his goals would have been key to Premier League safety.
