Illan Meslier has taken to Instagram to let Leeds United fans know he’s focused on this weekend’s match.

Meslier has been Leeds United’s undisputed No 1 since he was signed permanently in the summer of 2020 and has now become one of the busiest ‘keepers in the league this season – with the Frenchman making the most saves and conceding the most goals (FBRef).

Will Marsch keep Leeds in the Premier League?

The goalkeeper was signed for just £6m under former manager Marcelo Bielsa, but even with the Argentine having recently been sacked, Meslier shouldn’t have to worry about his future at the club given the backup is 21-year-old Kristoffer Klaesson, who’s yet to make a first-team appearance for Leeds.

However, despite seemingly being a guaranteed starter given the lack of competition, Meslier is taking nothing for granted posting on his Instagram that he has ‘full concentration on Saturday’.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

If new manager Jesse Marsch is to ensure Leeds secure their Premier League status come May, he will need Meslier to keep up his top performances from this season, which have seen him rack up a 6.64 WhoScored match rating, as they have some big games coming up against the likes of Wolves, Norwich City and Leicester City, where they will be targeting a lot of points – and a very unfamiliar clean sheet.

Meslier’s displays have attracted interest from some top European clubs, and if Leeds are to be relegated, it may well be difficult to keep hold of him, especially if a club like Barcelona – who are reportedly interested in him – come calling in the summer.
