Philippe Auclair has identified the dark situation that Everton find themselves in with problems arising on and off the pitch.

Everton’s Bramley-Moore Dock stadium contractors Laing O’Rourke have confirmed they are still committed to the project despite news regarding Alisher Usmanov this week, according to the LiverpoolEcho.

However, Philippe Auclair has identified a few issues surrounding this new £500 million stadium and has described the situation as “dark”.

“When it comes to Everton football club I’m afraid it looks very very dark to me and it was already as you said pretty dark before that. I’ve wondered for a long time, how this new stadium could have a transformative effect on the fortunes of the club that people thought it could have,” Auclair told The Transfer Window Podcast.

Auclair has already identified some investment issues at the club, whilst saying that he feels the club has “misspent” on the wrong players in the past seasons.

Auclair said, “The problem is the investment has already gone on and it’s been misspent in terms of the playing squad.“

TIF Thoughts on Everton…

There is no denying that Everton currently find themselves in a rut on the field, as they sit just one place and one point above the drop zone. The Toffees’ form as of late has been awful as they have won just once in their last six Premier League games, and if this doesn’t change, then they will certainly be facing the prospect of relegation.

If the Toffees want to turn things around, they will have to invest better in the summer. In previous years they have taken the approach of investing big from abroad, with players like Cenk Tosun, but this strategy has not worked, so maybe bringing in players that are proven in the Premier League, could be the way forward. Lampard has already started to take this approach with the January arrival of Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek.
