Lee Ryder gave his praise towards Newcastle United star Ryan Fraser in his player ratings, after the Scotland international scored the opening goal this afternoon against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Magpies went two goals up early on thanks to Ryan Fraser and Fabian Schar in the 12th and 14th minute. Brighton then got one back via Lewis Dunk in the 55th minute, but it wasn’t enough as Newcastle held on and secured all three points at St James’s Park.

Fraser scored the opener and this goal comes with his fine form as of late, and Ryder was quick to praise him post-match.

“Ryan Fraser 10- Match winning, arguably survival sealing contributions, with an assist and a goal. Ran himself into the ground. Performances like this at this time of year worth their weight in gold.” Ryder reported on ChronicleLive.

TIF Thoughts on Ryan Fraser…

Fraser has been finding his feet lately, and received a match rating of 8.5 against Brentford in Newcastle’s game before the Brighton victory this afternoon, as per Sofascore.

However, before this recent purple patch of form, the Scot struggled in a Newcastle shirt as he couldn’t solidify a place in the starting XI, and had an average match rating of under 7 over the past 12 months.

Newcastle’s recent emergence of form after a successful January transfer window, looks like it will be enough to keep them safe this season. The focus now sits on trying to push on and use the funds to invest in better players, and to build a squad around the likes of Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin.
