Stan Collymore took to Twitter after Aston Villa’s win last night to praise John McGinn for his display.
McGinn is continuing to prove that he will likely go down as one of the best pieces of business Aston Villa have conducted in their recent history as he cost them just £2.8m from Hibernian and has played at least 28 league games every season since he arrived at Villa Park.

Once again, McGinn played the full 90 minutes in Villa’s 3-0 romp over Leeds United, which should no longer come as a surprise given how important he is at both ends of the pitch for Steven Gerrard’s side, having created the most shot-creating actions and won the most tackles out of anyone in the squad.
Collymore simply couldn’t hide his excitement after his former club won comfortably 3-0 as he tweeted: “Yaaaaaaaaaas you beauty” after the midfielder posted a picture of himself celebrating.

The Scotland international has been a key figure under both Dean Smith and Gerrard in the Premier League, while his performances have also seen him linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, with McGinn being the type of player they may need to bring in instead of more big names.
Even since Villa have brought in a world-class midfielder in the form of Philippe Coutinho, McGinn has certainly not looked out of place at Villa Park, which is possibly the biggest positive that he’s able to maintain his standards and even increase them when better players are brought in, showing he could prosper with Villa for a long time.
