Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Stefan de Vrij would be a perfect fit for Tottenham Hotspur and Antonio Conte.

De Vrij has been a mainstay defender at the heart of the Inter backline this season, he has featured 22 times in the Serie A, according to Transfermarkt.

The Dutch defender has been on the radar for Spurs and he was heavily linked with a move to the north London side in January.

Jones told GiveMeSport that De Vrij would be an “unbelievable signing” for Spurs if they can get their man in the summer.

He said: “If they can get De Vrij, I think that would be an unbelievable signing and would fit perfectly for where they want to go in the next couple of years.”

TIF Thoughts on Stefan de Vrij…

Stefan de Vrij is an experienced defender who has been vital for Inter this season in defence as they currently sit second in Serie A, two points behind rivals Milan with a game in hand. Inter have the second-best defensive record in the league this season, with just Napoli conceding fewer than their record of 22.

Amid the rumours over a possible move, the 30-year-old praised former coach Antonio Conte and claimed that he is a coach that ‘always wins’.

De Vrij could be a perfect defender for Spurs as they look to progress under Conte, as he is a player with Champions League experience and has a lot of games under his belt at club level so could guide younger players such as Cristian Romero.
